Gemstone's estate vineyard sits in Yountville, and Facets is the wine that lets the team play outside their own fence - fruit pulled from choice sites around Yountville and Oak Knoll, put together by Julien Fayard, who took over the winemaking in 2021. You get the polish of a serious Napa Cabernet program without the estate bottle's demand for patience. Grapes are pressed gently straight to barrel and the wine spends up to 18 months in French oak, 40% of it new, enough to frame the fruit without smothering it. The result is velvety and open right now: floral and red-fruited, with fine-grained tannins instead of a wall of them. A Napa Cab you can justify opening on a Tuesday.
