Arietta Napa Valley H Block Hudson Vineyard 2018
H Block is where Arietta started, the very first bottling in 1996, and still the estate's flagship homage to the Right Bank of Bordeaux. It's a Cabernet Franc-driven blend (56% Cabernet Franc, 44% Merlot) from a single site: the famed Hudson Vineyard in Carneros, where the Franc grows on a volcanic outcrop and the Merlot in clay-loam, both planted in 1986. Aged in new French oak and bottled unfiltered, the 2018 is a wine of real perfume and depth. Now approaching a decade in bottle, it's drinking beautifully with plenty of room to keep going.
