California Trousseau on its own is rare enough; a Trousseau-dominant blend rounded out with Cabernet Pfeffer, Gamay, and Poulsard is essentially a unicorn. Scott Schultz built Jolie-Laide around exactly this kind of varietal curiosity, working with a small handful of organic growers across Northern California. The grapes go in whole cluster, get foot-crushed, ferment with native yeast, and rest in neutral oak. The result is delicate and airy with surprising pedigree given the cast of obscure grapes. A red for Jura and Beaujolais fans who want to see what California can do in that register.
