The vineyards of the Valle d'Aosta are ancient, with terraces and pergolas first perfected by the Romans, set on Alpine slopes where Italy, France, and Switzerland meet. The Grosjean family has farmed here for generations and works organically (certified since 2015). This is Donnas, the Valle d'Aosta's mountain expression of Nebbiolo, known locally as Picotendro, grown on south-facing terraces around 350 meters. Maceration runs two weeks, then the wine ages in 500-liter tonneaux before bottle time. It's Nebbiolo at altitude: leaner, brighter, and more high-toned than its Langhe cousins, with classic rose and cherry framed by an almond-tinged finish. Gorgeous wines made with integrity.
