Tara Gomez and Mireia Taribo are the wife-and-wife team behind Camins 2 Dreams, working out of the Sta. Rita Hills with a focus on Mediterranean varieties farmed organically and biodynamically. Tara is a member of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians; Mireia is from Catalunya. Together they make wines with native yeast, low sulfur, and a clear point of view. The Carignan comes from Santa Ynez Vineyard in Happy Canyon, where the warmer site gives this Mediterranean grape the heat it craves. Bottled with minimal intervention, it's a juicy, character-driven red that has more in common with the Languedoc than with Cabernet country next door.
