Bodegas Frontonio is the Aragon project of Fernando Mora MW and Mario Lopez, working old-vine Garnacha in the under-the-radar Valdejalon region (an IGP rather than DO). Microcosmico is the entry to the range: 100% Garnacha from 60+ year-old vines on slate and clay at 650-700m, foot-trodden with around a quarter whole clusters, native-fermented and raised seven months in underground concrete vats. Mora calls it 'an austere and sincere Garnacha,' a deliberate move away from over-extracted styles toward something fresher and more transparent.
