Aligote is Burgundy's other white grape, and it is exceedingly rare in California. This bottling is, as far as we know, the only Aligote made in Potter Valley. It comes from the certified organic Vecino Vineyard, in the Potter Valley AVA, which sits about 200 feet higher than neighboring valleys so daytime warmth is offset by sharp overnight cooling. The wine sits stylistically between Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc: leaner than the first, brisker than the second, with cut-glass acid and a chalky bite. If you love Bouzeron or unoaked Chablis, run.
