Génot-Boulanger is one of those elusive, under-the-radar Burgundy domaines. Aude and Guillaume Lavollée farm organically with biodynamic influence, work each site with a horse-drawn plough, and keep new oak at 15% or less. This Pommard Vieilles Vignes is the village-level cuvée drawn from older vines, and it punches well above its address. The 2016 was a frost-reduced vintage in Burgundy, and the cool, fresh growing season produced wines of clarity and lift rather than weight. From these older vines, the result is a deeply fragrant, finely structured Pommard, with concentrated red fruit, real freshness, and the textural lift the Lavollées chase across the range.
