La Tâche is DRC's monopole and the largest of their Grand Crus, historically the most opulent of the domaine's reds. 2021 was the antithesis of recent solar vintages in Burgundy: catastrophic April frost slashed yields nearly in half, and the resulting wines hark back to a more classical, delicate style. The 2021 La Tâche stood out even in a difficult year, a wine that leans into red rather than black fruit, with cool aromatics, whole-cluster herbal lift, and a contemporary classicism that's already remarkably suave.
