Mongeard-Mugneret's day job is grand cru Vosne-Romanee - Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, Richebourg. This is what they make from the hills behind all of that, up in the Hautes-Cotes de Nuits, where the vineyards sit higher and cooler and ripen later than the ones on the famous slope below. Les Dames Huguettes is among the better-known lieux-dits up there. The 2021 vintage was cold and cruelly small across Burgundy after frost gutted the crop, and the wines that survived lean toward freshness and red-fruited transparency rather than muscle - which suits this site well. Same hands, same cellar, none of the allocation drama. Give it a little time in the glass, or a few years in the cellar.
