Vom Roten Schiefer means "from the red slate," a soil that's surprisingly rare on the Mosel, where grey slate dominates. The red slate gives Andreas Schmitges' Riesling a rounder, riper, more mineral character than the usual linear Mosel profile. This is a classic Kabinett: low in alcohol, off-dry, with just a kiss of sweetness balanced by the Mosel's bright, mouthwatering acidity. Expect ripe orchard fruit and a stony, mineral core from those steep, old-vine slopes. Light, fruity, and endlessly refreshing, it's a Riesling that drinks as easily as it impresses.
