Trail Marker is the boundary-pushing California project from Drew Huffine and Emily Virgil, who hunt down cold coastal sites and then get out of the way. This rose comes from the Bartolomei family's Carignan vines in Mendocino, some planted between the 1930s and 1940s on land the family has farmed since the 1800s. Old vines and a cold site make for a rose with real focus and tension rather than soft fruitiness. Crisp and bright, with grapefruit, white peach, and melon, it's a serious pink wine that still goes down easy.
