The white from Marcio Lopes' Pequenos Rebentos project: a 50/50 blend of Alvarinho and Trajadura grown organically on granite soils in Vinho Verde. Marcio launched the label in 2010 after training with Anselmo Mendes in Melgaço and doing harvest stints in Australia. The Alvarinho brings stone fruit, body, and weight; the Trajadura adds floral lift and a citrus snap. Native-yeast fermentation in stainless steel keeps everything fresh and electric. This is what well-made Vinho Verde tastes like before it gets dumbed down for export - mineral, structured, and refreshingly dry.
