Marc Hebrart Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru Brut Clos Leon 2015
Clos Leon is a tiny walled vineyard in Dizy that Jean-Paul Hebrart has spent two decades trying to put back together. The clos was historically divided into three parcels totaling just 0.81 hectares; he sourced fruit from all three for years before finally acquiring the first parcel in 2008, the second in 2016, and the last in 2021. The 2015 is 100% Chardonnay fermented in 228-liter oak barrels at a very cool 12 degrees, with no malolactic, 72 months on lees, and only 3 grams of dosage. The result is a serious, wine-forward Champagne with the depth of a fine white Burgundy and the cut of a great grower bubbly. Disgorged January 2022.
