Margot was the grandmother, and the Colin siblings named this cuvee for her. It is drawn from four parcels on the lower slopes of Chassagne-Montrachet, vines averaging around thirty-five years, on the clay and limestone that makes this village's whites so difficult to imitate anywhere else. New oak is kept to a minimum, roughly a fifth, and the wine finishes its education in tank, so the site does the talking rather than the barrel. This is white Burgundy built for the dinner table: precise, saline, unshowy. A reminder that Chassagne at its best is about tension, not weight.
