Lacoste Borie Pauillac 2018
Lacoste-Borie is the second wine of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, the Pauillac Fifth Growth owned by the Borie family (same family behind Ducru-Beaucaillou in Saint-Julien). It's made with the same care as the grand vin — long vatting, French oak — but with a higher proportion of Merlot and younger vines, which makes it earlier-drinking and approachable. 2018 was a generous, ripe Bordeaux vintage, and Lacoste-Borie shows the charm of the year: dark berry fruit, gentle cedar, and Pauillac's signature graphite, with tannins already supple. A smart way into classed-growth Pauillac.
