Kosta Browne Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir Rita's Crown 2021
Kosta Browne's first foray into Sta. Rita Hills brought them to Rita's Crown, a hillside site on the western, ocean-influenced edge of this cool Central Coast AVA. The 2021 vintage was harvested across three weeks during what the winery considers an ideal growing season, and it shows in the wine: bright red fruit, lifted aromatics, and a finesse profile rather than a power profile. The cool maritime influence pushes the wine toward cranberry, strawberry, and citrus rather than the darker fruit of Russian River. Soft tannins, an extended finish, and serious aging potential round it out.
