Jerome Bretaudeau is rewriting the rulebook in Muscadet country, and La Justice is a perfect example of his curiosity. Rather than Melon de Bourgogne, this Vin de France cuvée is Chardonnay planted on granite and quartz soils near Clisson. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for around 14 months in 800-liter amphorae, it splits the difference between mineral tension and Burgundian breadth. Farmed biodynamically, made with minimal intervention. A genuinely original white from a producer who keeps pushing the limits of what the Nantais can do.
