Les Arboises' is the single vineyard that shows Romain Guiberteau at his most serious — old Cabernet Franc vines on deep tuffeau limestone near Le Puy-Notre-Dame, giving a red with more depth, structure and aging potential than his village Saumur. Guiberteau is one of the Loire's most sought-after vignerons, farming organically and working with native yeasts and a light hand. The result is a pure, chalky, finely structured wine that feels closer to fine Burgundy than country red. Drinkable now with air, but built to reward several years in the cellar.
