Granville Eola Amity Hills Chardonnay Koosah Vineyard 2024
At 800 to 1,100 feet, Koosah is about as high as Chardonnay grows in the Eola-Amity Hills -- and Granville takes its fruit from Blocks 5 and 7, the steepest, most wind-lashed slopes at the very top. That combination of altitude, exposure and cold Pacific air is a recipe for tension: small berries, slow ripening, and acidity that doesn't quit. The site has been farmed biodynamically since it was planted in 2016, and Jackson Holstein keeps the cellar work simple -- native fermentation in French oak, partial malolactic, unfined and unfiltered. Worth knowing that Resonance, Louis Jadot's Oregon estate, now owns the vineyard; Granville still sources select blocks, and the bottling stays small. This is Oregon Chardonnay with an alpine streak.
