Cerretta is one of the great crus of Serralunga d'Alba, and Davide Rosso — who took over from his father Giovanni in the early 2000s — has emerged as one of its most exciting interpreters. The Rosso family has farmed here for over a century, and Davide's modern-traditional touch has rocketed the domaine into the top tier of Barolo producers. Fruit from roughly 30-year-old vines on marly calcareous soils is fermented in concrete, then aged 24 months in large French oak. The 2020 is classic Serralunga — that compelling sweetness of fruit, the inner perfume, the iron grip beneath. Dark cherry, lavender, cedar, pipe tobacco. Built for the cellar, but already singing.
