Champagne's next generation doesn't always inherit a famous name — sometimes it starts one. Quentin Richard came up in the orbit of Francis Boulard et Fille, one of the region's quiet biodynamic standard-bearers, and now makes his own wine in the Vallée de la Marne under the Flancourt label. Chronique is the calling card: a near-even split of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a fifth Pinot Meunier, farmed biodynamically. The Marne is Meunier country, and that grape lends the blend its easy generosity while the Chardonnay keeps things taut. This is a Champagne built for drinking rather than contemplating — light on its feet, dry, and genuinely fun.
