When the Brunier family (of Vieux Telegraphe, one of Chateauneuf-du-Pape's most respected estates) want to make a wine for Tuesday night, this is what shows up. Pigeoulet is Grenache-led with Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, and Mourvedre, drawn from vineyards on the lower slopes of Mont Ventoux and the east bank of the Rhone. Fermented in concrete, raised in tank and large foudre, it's the textbook southern Rhone table red — juicy, garrigue-scented, and uncomplicated in the best possible way. Imported by Kermit Lynch.
