E. Guigal (Chateau de Nalys) Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grand Vin 2019
By 2019, Guigal had fully hit their stride at Château de Nalys, the historic Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate they acquired in 2017. The Grand Vin draws from three top parcels — half from the legendary galets of La Crau, plus Bois Sénéchal and Nalys itself — and blends roughly 60% Grenache with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Counoise, and Muscardin. Vinified in wood truncated cone vats, aged 18 months in a mix of barrel and foudre. 2019 is one of the great recent Southern Rhône vintages, and the wine has all the freshness and structure to back that up. Drink now through the late 2030s.
