Domaine Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Boudriotte 2014 (1.5L)
Clos de la Boudriotte is the 1er Cru that grandfather Pierre Ramonet built his reputation on for red wine, and the family still treats it as their flagship Pinot. The site sits at the southern end of Chassagne, where heavier soils give a darker, more structured red than you'd expect from the village. This is the magnum of the 2014 vintage, a dozen years from harvest, which puts it in a sweet spot: the savagery of youth has faded, the secondary notes - dried cherry, mushroom, sweet earth - are emerging, and the large format will keep it pacing slowly for years yet. Old-vines from a low-yield estate, aged in roughly a third new oak.
