Domaine Eden is the more approachable sister label to Mount Eden Vineyards, high in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Silicon Valley. The Chardonnay is made in the classic Mount Eden style: hand-picked, whole-cluster pressed, barrel-fermented and aged on the lees in Burgundian barrels. The 2021 is a blend of about 60% Domaine Eden fruit and 40% Mount Eden estate, which makes it punch well above its weight. Cool-climate, mineral, and tightly drawn rather than buttery or tropical. If you love white Burgundy, this is one of the most Burgundian Chardonnays in California.
