Domaine Duroche Gevrey-Chambertin Champ 2023 [NET]
Pierre Duroché has quietly become one of the most coveted names in Gevrey-Chambertin, and Champ is a perfect introduction to his classical style. The cuvée comes from two parcels at the northern edge of the village, planted in 1969 and 1973 on crinoidal limestone and sandy marl. Of his lieux-dits, this is the high-toned, mineral one. The 2023 dials up the fruit intensity compared to a normal village bottling: finely drawn raspberry and wild strawberry, crushed stone, taut and focused on the palate, lacy tannins, a long saline finish. Native yeasts, almost no new oak, no fining or filtration. Drink over the next decade.
