Domaine Bois de Boursan VdF Cuvee Le Petit Oursan NV
Domaine Bois de Boursan is a benchmark old-school Chateauneuf-du-Pape estate, run by Jean-Paul Versino across parcels averaging over fifty years of vine age. Le Petit Oursan is his clever entry-level cuvee, a play on 'ours' (bear) and the family name. It draws from younger vines outside Chateauneuf near Jonquieres plus some declassified Chateauneuf fruit, blending Grenache with a substantial portion of Merlot and some Syrah. Raised partly in steel, partly in cement, it's fresh, peppery and juicy, a whole lot of southern Rhone character for the money.
