Chateau d'Armailhac is a Fifth Growth in the hands of the Mouton Rothschild family — same ownership, same winemaking team, same Pauillac terroir, but a softer, more approachable style with a higher proportion of Merlot and Cabernet Franc in the blend. 2019 was an outstanding Pauillac vintage, ripe and structured, and d'Armailhac drinks beautifully young while still rewarding a decade or two in the cellar. A way into the Mouton stable without the Mouton price.
