Castello Conti Boca Il Rosso delle Donne 2017
From Boca, one of the smallest and most ancient corners of Alto Piemonte, this is the flagship of Castello Conti, where sisters Elena, Anna, and Paola tend a single hillside hectare planted on ancient volcanic soils. 'Il Rosso delle Donne', the women's red, takes its name from the sisters' mark on the family tradition. It's a blend of roughly 75% Nebbiolo with Vespolina and Uva Rara, fermented spontaneously, aged about three years in large old casks, and made with almost no added sulfur. High-altitude vines and volcanic ground give it a bright, savory, mountain-Nebbiolo character that loves a decant.
